IRIS – Integrated Refugee &
Immigrant Services celebrated 25 years of welcoming refugees
and the launch of a new Legal Clinic with a dinner at the
New Haven Lawn Club on Wednesday, April 9,
2008.
Harold Hongju Koh, Dean of Yale Law School, delivered the keynote
address. The child of Korean- American immigrants and a native of Boston,
Dean Koh is a leading expert on international law and a prominent advocate
of human and civil rights. Since 1985 he has taught at the Yale Law School.
From
1998 to 2001, Koh served as Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy,
Human Rights and Labor.
Musical entertainment was provided by internationally acclaimed
flutist Sergio Pallottelli and harpist Franziska Huhn.
The celebration featured a raffle, including sculpture by New Haven
artist Susan Clinard. |
