The third annual 5K “Run for Refugees” Race will be held on Super Bowl Sunday, February 7, 2010, and will benefit IRIS — Integrated Refugee & Immigrant Services.

Runners start in the 2009 Run for Refugees

Last year, more than 400 runners and walkers started their Super Bowl festivities early with this fun-filled event that raises funds to help refugees start new lives in Connecticut. The race begins at New Haven’s Wilbur Cross High School and features a picturesque run through East Rock Park. Participants may collect donations for IRIS or pay a flat entry fee.  Prizes will be given to the three participants who collect the highest number of donations for IRIS!

Participants are encouraged to support their favorite Super Bowl team with jerseys and costumes.  They will enjoy t-shirts and a post-race party featuring international food, live entertainment, and an exciting and fun awards ceremony.
