DESCRIPTION:IRIS is proud to partner with the Greater New Haven Community Chorus (GNHCC) for Welcome. Peace. Amen.\, a special concert celebrating immigrants\, refugees\, and the rich cultural diversity of New Haven. Through music and community engagement\, the event aims to foster understanding\, welcome\, and support for newcomers while raising awareness of the contributions\nimmigrants make to our communities. \nBattell Chapel\, 400 College Street\,\nNew Haven\, CT 06511 \nThe concert will feature performances by the Greater New Haven Community Chorus under the direction of Artistic Director Alysoun Kegel. Attendees are invited to enjoy an evening of music celebrating unity\, inclusion\, and community. Concert proceeds and community support will help benefit IRIS programs serving refugees and immigrants throughout Connecticut. Guests are also encouraged to support the IRIS Food Pantry by bringing non-perishable food donations. \nIRIS staff and volunteers will attend the event\, welcome guests\, share information about IRIS programs and services\, and collect food donations for the IRIS Food Pantry. The event provides an opportunity to strengthen community connections and celebrate New Haven’s diverse immigrant communities.

DESCRIPTION:IRIS will participate in the 2026 Guilford Rotary Lobster Fest\, a community celebration and fundraiser hosted by the Rotary Club of Guilford. The event brings together residents\, local businesses\, nonprofit organizations\, and community leaders for an evening of food\, entertainment\, and community engagement while supporting charitable causes throughout the region. \nThe annual Lobster Fest features food\, live music by Take Three\, community exhibits\, and activities for attendees of all ages. Proceeds from the event support local charitable and community initiatives throughout the Greater Guilford area. \nIRIS staff and volunteers will host an informational table where attendees can learn about IRIS programs and services supporting refugees and immigrants across Connecticut. Representatives will be available to discuss volunteer opportunities\, community partnerships\, and ways to support newcomer families as they rebuild their lives and contribute to their communities.

DESCRIPTION:IRIS will host America 250 Event\, a community celebration recognizing the contributions of immigrants and refugees to Connecticut and the United States\, and celebrating 250 years of welcoming immigrants\, democratic governance\, and civil liberties. Held as part of the nationwide America 250 initiative\, the event will bring together community members\, civic organizations\, artists\, advocates\, and local partners for a day of learning\, civic engagement\, culture\, and community connection. \nThe event will feature live entertainment\, food vendors\, an art exhibit and craft fair\, voter registration opportunities\, a citizenship test challenge\, and a citizen advocacy workshop. Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in the 250 Immigrant Stories Project\, an initiative designed to collect and preserve stories that reflect the diverse experiences and contributions of immigrants in Connecticut. The event is free and open to the public and welcomes individuals and families of all backgrounds. \nAs a host organization\, IRIS staff\, volunteers\, and community partners will facilitate educational activities\, civic engagement opportunities\, cultural programming\, and community resource sharing. The event will highlight the role immigrants and refugees play in strengthening Connecticut’s communities while encouraging dialogue\, participation\, and belonging. \nCommunity partners include America 250 Connecticut\, IKEA\, the City of New Haven\, the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities (CHRO)\, Arts Council of Greater New Haven\, the League of Women Voters of Connecticut\, the ACLU of Connecticut\, and Sanctuary Kitchen. \nContribute to our 250 Immigrant Stories Project!\nSubmit a Logo Design to our Run For Refugees 20th Anniversary Logo Design Contest!\n
