IRIS welcomes and assists refugee families who have fled persecution or war, and have been invited by the federal government to resettle in the US. IRIS also works with all other immigrant families who are already in Connecticut, such as asylum seekers, asylees, and any other immigrants seeking stability for their family. 

Founded in 1982, IRIS has welcomed over 1,300 refugees in just the past four years. Three-quarters of this total are from Syria, Afghanistan, and Iraq; others were from Sudan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Eritrea. Half are women and girls, and half are children. In total, each year IRIS serves over 1,200 refugees and other immigrants through all of its services. 

The following organizations are key partners with IRIS and many other immigration organizations on a national and/or international level, in the work of resettling refugees and meeting the needs of asylum seekers, asylees, undocumented individuals, and all other immigrants.
