Protect the Vote: Community Conversation on Voting Rights

IRIS will participate in Protect the Vote, a community conversation focused on voting rights, civic engagement, and access to the democratic process. Organized by the Glastonbury Martin Luther King Community Initiative (MLKCI), the event will bring together community members, advocates, and organizations to discuss current issues affecting voter participation and election
access.

The evening will begin with a reception and refreshments at 5:30 PM, followed by a panel discussion at 6:00 PM featuring representatives from the ACLU and the League of Women Voters. Topics will include voting rights, voter access, election security, voter registration, and civic participation. The event will also provide opportunities for new voter registration and community dialogue. Admission is free and open to the public.
IRIS will host an informational table staffed by employees and volunteers, providing information about services and programs available to refugees and immigrants throughout Connecticut. IRIS representatives will engage with attendees, share resources, and discuss the importance of civic
participation and community engagement among newcomer communities.
